Fortius Sport & Health is an integrated athlete development centre strengthened through philanthropy and focused on optimizing human performance for life.

Dr. Rick Celebrini<p>​A co-founder and partner in the Fortius Institute and senior member in the leadership team behind Fortius Sport & Health, Dr. Rick Celebrini is internationally-recognized as one of North America's leading sport and orthopedic physiotherapists. He served as the Manager of Medical Services and Chief Therapist for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. He works with dozens of high-profile professional and Olympic athletes, including two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash of the LA Lakers and consults to organizations as diverse as the Canadian Soccer Association, Canadian Alpine Ski Team and the NHL Players Association. He is the Head of Sports Medicine and Science for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer.  His research interests include the areas of injury prevention, epidemiology of injury risk factors and performance enhancement. Damien Moroney<p>​Damien Moroney is the Director of Rehabilitation and Performance Integration​ at Fortius Sport & Health. As a physical therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist, he has more than two decades of experience working with community members and professional athletes from the NHL, NWSL, NBA, PGA tour, Cirque Du Soleil and X Games.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Damien also has concurrent professional roles with B2ten and the Red Bull High Performance Program. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">B2ten's purpose is to make a significant contribution to Olympic sport in Canada. Damien has been a part of the leadership team since 2008. This has enabled him the opportunity to engage a select group of Olympic medal potential individuals in various phases of their preparation, rehabilitation, training and competitions. He has consulted with athletes involved in a broad range of National team sports including BMX racing, downhill and slope-style skiing, snowboarding, bobsleigh, soccer, rugby and athletics. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">In his current role as an advisor and consultant for Red Bull Canada, Damien is assisting athletes in planning their performance objectives and managing injuries or post-surgical rehabilitations. He will co-ordinate their progressive return from injury to their training environment and international competitions.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">Damien is excited to be part of the interdisciplinary, integrated service provider team at Fortius Sport & Health. He is excited about the ability for the Centre to provide comprehensive sport specific assessments, develop individual performance goals plus deliver purposeful rehabilitation and training plans for a wide variety of sports. Stefania Rizzo<p>​Stefania Rizzo is the  Director of Physical Therapy at Fortius Sport & Health. An original member of the Physiotherapy team within the Fortius Institute, Stefania is a respected physical therapist with international sport experience, and experience as Head of Rehabilitation with an NHL franchise team. She attended both the Vancouver/Whistler Olympics and Sochi Olympics as lead therapist for the Canadian National Men's and Women's Alpine Ski Teams, and has over 15 years of experience working within some of the best physiotherapy clinics in British Columbia. Stefania has worked extensively with professional athletes in a variety of sports including NHL, AHL, NBA, CFL and WTA and community athletes of all levels.  As lead therapist for the men's and women's technical ski teams Stefania is experienced in the full spectrum of rehab from the moment an injury occurs to the return to high level competition.  Stefania uses assessment tools and sport specific movement strategies to help patients return to sport at all levels, and enjoys collaborating with the multidisciplinary team within Fortius to assist anyone wishing to improve their mobility and function.</p><p>Stefania was the Co-Chair BC Section Orthopaedic Division from 2002-2011 and continues to serve as a Mentor/Advisor for Advanced Manual Therapy exam candidates. Mike Foster<p><span lang="EN-CA">​​As an original member of the Physiotherapy team within the Fortius Institute, Mike Foster is an experienced physiotherapist who has spent the last 15 years working with athletes of all levels.  He has worked extensively with professional athletes from a number of different sports, particularly soccer, hockey, football and tennis. Mike is a physiotherapist with the Canadian Senior Women's Soccer Team, with a particular focus on the return-to-play of injured players.  He has also worked with local soccer clubs, as well as the Douglas College Men's Basketball team. Mike has extensive experience with on-field rehabilitation, assisting athletes in their transition from the clinic setting onto the field of play.  Mike has received his Fellowship in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy. Erik Torchia<p></p><p>Erik began practicing at Fortius Sport and Health soon after the doors opened, providing care to the Greater Vancouver Area. Originally from Winnipeg, Erik founded a successful sport & orthopaedic private practice, working with local MMFA football, AAA hockey, as well as multiple other sporting groups prior to arrival in Vancouver. Now a member of the local community, he works with the Vancouver Stealth LAX and the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency Program.</p><p>Erik enjoys to participate and work in unfamiliar sport, looking to understand movement and performance, as well as potential injury risks and prevention measures.</p><p>'Learning is Forever' is a quote Erik certainly lives by. Erik is progressing through his education of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization with the Prague School of Rehabilitation, as well as completing his Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy. Chris Franks<p>​As part of the integrated practitioner team at Fortius Sport & Health, Physiotherapist Chris Franks brings over a decade's worth of experience as a sport physiotherapist to Fortius. A member of the Physiotherapy team during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, Chris Franks has worked with multiple members of the Fortius team during his time working with the Canadian Soccer Association, Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Clinic, and his current role as a Therapist within the Vancouver Whitecaps FC organization. Ryan Murray<p>​​​</p><p>Ryan Murray has been a Physiotherapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist for over 8 years. Ryan enjoys working with all levels of athletes to develop sport specific exercises to prevent re-injury and facilitate elite performance. </p><p>Growing up playing high-contact sports like football and basketball, he quickly became introduced to physiotherapy through his own personal injuries. Soon he became more interested in what happens off the field rather than on, and his passion for rehabilitation began. </p><p>The love of sports and competitive play has continued throughout his career, working with professional and amateur athletes like the Vancouver Giants, the Junior and Senior Men's Canadian National Field Hockey Team, and the Men's Premier Columbus FC Soccer Team. He continues to explore new ways of physical therapy, and is currently pursuing a Sports Diploma through Sport Physiotherapy Canada.</p><p>Ryan believes in establishing a strong sense of community. He enjoys an active lifestyle and has volunteered with many local high school and community teams throughout the years. Danielle Langford<p>​​​​As part of the integrated practitioner team at Fortius Sport & Health, Physiotherapist Danielle Langford brings years of experience in physiotherapy, high level coaching (basketball) and training to the Fortius Institute. Dani enjoys helping people to achieve their goals of staying active and moving efficiently, from young and developing athletes, to retired athletes, and everyone in between. Having been a high performance athlete throughout university also gives her a unique perspective when working with athletic clients. In addition to her manual therapy skills, Dani utilizes the principles of Pilates to enhance movement training and treatment. She believes this combination encourages proper core stabilization and movement patterning for her clients. <br><br>Since beginning work at Fortius Sport & Health, Dani has been involved in the Learn to Train program, and spear-headed the development of the BACK in the Game program. Both programs work to promote physical literacy and motor development in younger, developing athletes. Graeme Poole<p>​​​​Graeme is currently working in a dual role, spending mornings as the Rehab Therapist for the Vancouver Canucks and afternoons at Fortius Sport and Health.  Graeme's role with the Canucks is helping players on the injured reserve return to NHL play, and his role at Fortius is helping other athletes achieve their rehab goals.  Prior to this, Graeme spent seven years being the head physio for the Vancouver Whitecaps Major League Soccer team. </p><p></p><p>Graeme has worked with community athletes of all levels, in both conditioning and rehabilitation roles. Katie Wnuk<p>​A member of the Physiotherapy team within the Fortius Institute, Katie has experience in sports & orthopaedic private practice, as well as with Varsity, Men's League, BC & National level sports teams.</p><p></p><p>Enjoying an active lifestyle herself, knowledge of various activity demands and movement patterns allows Katie to help clients return to participation in their activities.  Her treatment approach involves a blend of manual therapy, individualized exercise prescription, and acupuncture. Katie enjoys working with individuals of all activity levels and values developing a client-therapist partnership in order to achieve her client's treatment goals. Furthermore, her treatment approach focuses not only on alleviating pain, but correcting muscle imbalance and joint dysfunction in order to prevent future injury.</p><p>Katie places importance on post-graduate education in order to remain as current and effective as possible in her physiotherapy practice. Gretchen McLennan<p>​Gretchen has 14 years experience working as a physiotherapist at some of the most recognized physiotherapy clinics in the lower mainland. She has worked with clients across the spectrum, from Paralympic to professional and amateur to the recreational athlete. Gretchen was a National Team athlete representing Canada as a Rhythmic Gymnast in her younger years. She has maintained her love of sport and continues to stay fit these days doing CrossFit and soccer, still competing in both. Her breadth of experience affords her the ability to relate to a diverse population of clients. Gretchen utilizes her experience and assessment skills to determine the root cause of movement dysfunction.
