Fortius Sport & Health is an integrated athlete development centre strengthened through philanthropy and focused on optimizing human performance for life.

Molly O'Brien'Brien.aspx<p>​​​​​​​Since arriving at Fortius as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2013, Molly has helped to develop the Fortius HockeySTRONG program and has established small group performance training programs targeting active adults who are engaged in a wide range of sport and physical activities. She has also initiated a Strength & Conditioning Internship which accepted its first student in September 2015.</p><p>In nearly a decade of work in the sports performance industry, Molly O'Brien has worked in the collegiate setting (Springfield College, University of Louisville, and McMaster University), the professional/national team setting (Hockey Canada, AHL Springfield Falcons), and the private setting (Depth Training, Fortius Sport & Health). Her resume includes work with a number of professional, national, and Olympic athletes in a variety of sports including hockey, wrestling/combative sports, volleyball, and track and field.</p><p>Molly actively coaches in the HockeySTRONG stream and with private clientele. Daniel Kenzie<p>​​​As part of the integrated practitioner team at Fortius Sport & Health, Strength & Conditioning Coach Daniel Kenzie brings his experience in the world of high performance and combines it with a passion for health and prevention of chronic disease through active living. Daniel comes from Pinnacle Elite Athlete’s training center in Kelowna, BC where he worked with athletes from the NHL, NFL, NCAA, XGames and CIS. Jermaine John-Archer<p>​​​As part of the integrated practitioner team at Fortius Sport & Health, Strength & Conditioning Coach Jermaine John-Archer is an experienced practitioner within the health and fitness industry. Jermaine has designed programs and systems driven by a results based feedback loop and has worked with people to become healthier, optimize fitness and performance as well as working with clinically diagnosed clients, always emphasizing education within his practice. Curb Ivanic<p>​​​​​​​​​Curb joins Fortius Sport & Health as a Strength & Conditioning Coach and has a Master's degree in Exercise Science. ​Curb is also a husband, father and entrepreneur.</p><p>Over the last 14 years he's coached hundreds of athletes from newbies to professionals. Many of his recreational level clients have set personal bests, gotten onto the podium or set age group records.</p><p>These lifestyle athletes are executives, professionals or business owners with families and busy social schedules who want to push their physical limits. Curb is very familiar with the challenges of trying to juggle work and family while still striving for high performance. </p><p>When he's not working or spending time with his family, Curb loves competing in trail running, getting out on his stand-up paddleboard or searching for some powder on the mountain slopes. Sarah Manson<p>Strength & Conditioning Coach Sarah Manson is a leader in athlete development and strength and conditioning in Canada. She has considerable international experience having worked with the New Zealand National Women's Football program as well as with the Canadian Women's National Soccer Team in her hometown of Vancouver. Sarah has worked with a wide range of athletes from all sports and levels, including both National Hockey League and Super League Rugby players. Abby Galenzoski Lead - Performance Rehabilitation Coach<p>​​Abby Galenzoski is a Strength & Conditioning coach and the Lead Performance Rehabilitation Coach at Fortius Sport & Health. Throughout her career she has worked in national team settings (Rugby Canada and the Scottish Rugby Union), professional & semi-professional team settings (the Bay of Plenty Steamers Rugby Union and the Gold Coast Breakers Rugby Union), collegiate settings (Binghamton University), and private settings (Cris Carter's FAST Program, PuckMasters Hockey Training Regina) before joining Fortius Sport & Health.​ Abby brings profound experience in constructing and implementing return-to-play protocols, injury prevention and recovery strategies. He currently leads the BackStrong Program, Burnaby Fire Dept. FireFit Training and our Small and Large Group Training Programs. He continues to expand our offerings in collaboration with our integrated practitioner team to better serve the needs of the Lower Mainland’s growing communities.</div><div><br></div><div>Dave combines his knowledge in improving client health and performance with his passion for the prevention of chronic disease and injury. Amanda Jones<p>​​​​Amanda Jones joins Fortius Sport & Health shortly after completing her Bachelor of Kinesiology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She made the move out West to complete her Masters of Kinesiology, specializing in Coaching Science at the University of British Columbia. Amanda has experience working as a Strength and Conditioning coach in a collegiate setting and in youth development. She looks forward to working as part of the integrated practitioner team at Fortius. She is passionate about helping her athletes perform optimally and keeping them injury free. Lisa Northrup<p>​​​​​Lisa Northrup joins Fortius Sport & Health as a Strength & Conditioning Coach.  Lisa comes with over a decade of experience coaching elite level athletes from a wide range of sports, as well as individuals from various abilities and ages. Akriti Sharma<p>​​​With an academic background in sport and exercise science, Akriti brings with her a range of different experiences in Strength and conditioning. From working with professional cricket in England and National Basketball in India to training collegiate athletes at the University of Toronto, she has worked with a variety of sports such as volleyball, American football, field hockey, ice hockey, tennis, golf, rowing, swimming, baseball, wrestling, marathon, rugby. She has a keen interest in ACL injury prevention having suffered through two torn ACLs, and the application of biomechanics and physiology to training. Having accumulated experience in multiple contexts Akriti is very adaptive to situations and different types of athletes. Brandon Luu<p>​​​As part of the integrated practitioner team at Fortius Sport & Health, Strength & Conditioning Coach Brandon Luu brings his experience working with youth clients in group and team training sessions. Brandon's passion lies within improving youth sport performance through breaking down fundamental skills and movement in sports with strength and conditioning. In the time that Brandon has been at Fortius, he has developed a passion for working with a broader scope of clients, not only focusing on sport performance but also improving client health and performance for life. In his free time, Brandon enjoys playing in team sports. Adam Nugent-Hopkins<p>​​​​​Adam Nugent-Hopkins is recognized as one of the top young sports performance coaches for Ice Hockey in Canada, training players of all levels and abilities. "Thinking outside the box can take you to a whole new level - Don't be afraid to be different, be a leader" is the motto that has stuck with Adam Nugent-Hopkins. It means that while many strength programs use similar exercises such as squats and bench, Adam takes his program to the next level by honing in on the science behind speed and explosiveness, along with focusing on heart rate and work intensities to build effective and efficient programs tailoring to the goals of the individual. Using the TRIPHASIC method of training coupled with undulating periodization gives his training programs a scientific method benefitting those who do it. This special recipe is what Adam brings to HockeySTRONG. Throughout his career, Adam has witnessed all levels of athletes - from Atoms to NHL Veterans - achieve success under his training method.​ </p>
Jerrad Guenther<p></p><p></p><p>​As part of the integrated practitioner team at Fortius Sport & Health, Strength & Conditioning Coach Jerrad Guenther brings his experience training clients of all ages and abilities and combines it with his passion for improving client health and performance. Jerrad earned his Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia. Prior to Fortius, he spent 3 years in the research environment attaining skills to better help design and implement evidence-based exercise programs. When he is not working, Jerrad loves competing in team sports. Carl Bergstrom | Performance and Rehabilitation Coach<p>​Carl is a Performance and Rehabilitation Coach at Fortius and a member of the Strength and Conditioning team. ​He has extensive knowledge and experience training athletes in several different capacities, including strength and conditioning and return to sport. Following the completion of a Bachelor's in Human Kinetics degree, he completed his Master of Kinesiology in coaching science at the University of British Columbia. </p><p>His time in the private sector has provided him with a unique opportunity to train an array of individuals ranging from at-risk clientele to professional athletes. His experience in athletics includes working with elite hockey, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, rugby, football, tennis, snowboarding, and golf athletes. Over the past five years, he has developed an integrated hockey program for players ranging from the elite minor to the NHL level. This program provided a cohesive approach to all aspects of an athlete's training needs including on-ice, off-ice, nutrition, and variability training.</p><p>Carl has had the pleasure of working with professional teams including the Vancouver Canucks as a Movement Analyst, the Vancouver Whitecaps as the Sports Science & Data Analyst and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, as well as the Canadian Women's National Soccer team as their Strength & Power Coach and Assistant to the Exercise Scientist. With the Whitecaps, he is firmly integrated on a daily basis, not only in the sports science role but also within the sports performance department working with individualizing programs within a team setting and working one-on-one with athletes who are returning to sport or require specific attention.
