Molly O'Brien'Brien.aspx<p>​​​​​​​​Since arriving at Fortius as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2013, Molly has helped to develop the Fortius HockeySTRONG program and has established small group performance training programs targeting active adults who are engaged in a wide range of sport and physical activities. She has also initiated a Strength & Conditioning Internship which accepted its first student in September 2015.</p><p>In nearly a decade of work in the sports performance industry, Molly O'Brien has worked in the collegiate setting (Springfield College, University of Louisville, and McMaster University), the professional/national team setting (Hockey Canada, AHL Springfield Falcons), and the private setting (Depth Training, Fortius Sport & Health). Her resume includes work with a number of professional, national, and Olympic athletes in a variety of sports including hockey, wrestling/combative sports, volleyball, and track and field.</p><p>Molly actively coaches in the HockeySTRONG stream and with private clientele. Daniel Kenzie<p>​As part of the Strength & Conditioning team at Fortius Sport & Health, Coach Dan brings a systematic and detailed approach to performance training. He finds that combining movement strategy with appropriate strength, power, and conditioning methods always yields high transfer to game play. Dan has extensive experience in the field working with athletes ranging from those learning to train all the way to those training to win. His clients have included those on provincial, national, and professional teams of sports such as soccer, hockey, basketball, as well as individual sport athletes competing in extreme sports such as motocross and snowboarding. </p><p> </p><p>Dan coaches year round in the HockeySTRONG stream, specializing in off-season strength and conditioning for goaltenders. Curb Ivanic<p>​​​​​​​​​​​Curb joins Fortius Sport & Health as a Performance Running Coach​ and has a Master's degree in Exercise Science. ​Curb is also a husband, father and entrepreneur.</p><p>Over the last 16 years he's coached hundreds of athletes from newbies to professionals. Many of his recreational level clients have set personal bests, gotten onto the podium or set age group records.</p><p>These lifestyle athletes are executives, professionals or business owners with families and busy social schedules who want to push their physical limits. Curb is very familiar with the challenges of trying to juggle work and family while still striving for high performance. </p><p>When he's not working or spending time with his family, Curb loves competing in trail running, getting out on his stand-up paddleboard or searching for some powder on the mountain slopes. Sarah Manson<p>​​​​Strength & Conditioning Coach Sarah Manson is a leader in athlete development and strength and conditioning in Canada. She has considerable international experience having worked with the New Zealand National Women's Football program as well as with the Canadian Women's National Soccer Team in her hometown of Vancouver. Sarah has worked with a wide range of athletes from all sports and levels, including both National Hockey League and Super League Rugby players. Abby Galenzoski | Lead - Performance Rehabilitation Coach<p>​​​​​Abby Galenzoski is a Strength & Conditioning coach and the Lead Performance Rehabilitation Coach at Fortius Sport & Health. She has almost 10 years' experience working as part of high performance integrated support teams around the world. Throughout her career she has worked in national team settings (Rugby Canada and the Scottish Rugby Union), professional & semi-professional team settings (the Bay of Plenty Steamers Rugby Union – New Zealand, and the Gold Coast Breakers Rugby Union - Australia), collegiate settings (Binghamton University - USA), and private settings (Cris Carter's FAST Program - USA, PuckMasters Hockey Training Regina - Canada) prior joining Fortius Sport & Health.</p><p>Since joining Fortius in 2015 she has used this experience to contribute to the development of the Fortius Rehabilitation Pathway. Jerrad Guenther<p>​​​</p><p></p><p>​Jerrad is the Lifelong Wellness Manager and a Strength & Conditioning Coach at Fortius Sport & Health. </p><p>He earned his Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia, followed by years of experience training clients of all ages and abilities. Prior to Fortius, he spent three years in the research environment attaining skills to better help design and implement evidence-based exercise programs. </p><p>Jerrad's diverse experience combined with his passion for improving client health and performance led him to his role in lifelong wellness at Fortius. In addition to private coaching, he manages and is involved in a number of programs including: Small Group Training, BackSTRONG, Healthy Heart, KidsMove and our Health Performance Optimization program (HPO).</p><p>When he is not working, Jerrad loves competing in team sports. Kile Cooke<p>Kile joins Fortius Sport & Health shortly after completing his Bachelor of Kinesiology at UBC, with a specialization in co-operative education. ADAM WASYLYSHYN | APPLIED SPORT SCIENTIST (PHYSIOLOGY)<p>​​​​​​​​After spending ten years in Calgary, AB studying exercise physiology and working as a strength and conditioning coach, Adam relocated to Vancouver to join the team at Fortius. Having competed as a varsity track and field athlete during his time at the University of Calgary, his areas of interest lie in energy systems development and running injury prevention. Michelle Jang<p>​​Michelle is a Strength and Conditioning Intern at Fortius Sport & Health. Originally from Calgary, she is currently studying Kinesiology at UBC. Coming from a strong background in soccer, Michelle has applied her skills to coaching various sports through the SunRun, YMCA-First Tee Program and Royal City Soccer. SEAN MC KEOWN | APPLIED SPORT SCIENTIST (BIOMECHANICS)<p>​​Sean Mc Keown is an Applied Sport Scientist at Fortius with a Masters in Sport Performance. </p><p>Sean leads  sport science testing and performance analysis, providing support to athletes, coaches, therapists, teams and organizations. Amanda Jones<p>​​Amanda joins Fortius Sport & Health while she completes her Master of Kinesiology in coaching science at the University of British Columbia. Having rooted down in Vancouver just over a year ago Amanda has since taken a role at Fortius working primarily with our KidsMOVE, SportSTRONG, and Small Group Training programs. She is interested in the development of youth athletes and promoting exercise as medicine. Akriti Sharma<p>​​​With an academic background in sport and exercise science, Akriti brings with her a range of different experiences in Strength and conditioning. From working with professional cricket in England and National Basketball in India to training collegiate athletes at the University of Toronto, she has worked with a variety of sports such as volleyball, American football, field hockey, ice hockey, tennis, golf, rowing, swimming, baseball, wrestling, marathon, rugby. She has a keen interest in ACL injury prevention having suffered through two torn ACLs, and the application of biomechanics and physiology to training. Having accumulated experience in multiple contexts Akriti is very adaptive to situations and different types of athletes. Adam Nugent-Hopkins<p>​​​​​Adam Nugent-Hopkins is recognized as one of the top young sports performance coaches for Ice Hockey in Canada, training players of all levels and abilities. "Thinking outside the box can take you to a whole new level - Don't be afraid to be different, be a leader" is the motto that has stuck with Adam Nugent-Hopkins. It means that while many strength programs use similar exercises such as squats and bench, Adam takes his program to the next level by honing in on the science behind speed and explosiveness, along with focusing on heart rate and work intensities to build effective and efficient programs tailoring to the goals of the individual. Using the TRIPHASIC method of training coupled with undulating periodization gives his training programs a scientific method benefitting those who do it. Ryan Jang<p>​​​Ryan Jang is a Strength and Conditioning Coach in the Fortius Training Centre, actively helping clients achieve a variety of health, recreational, and performance goals. Ryan coaches in the Fortius HockeySTRONG program, helping youth through professional level athletes to perform year-round, and in the Fortius KidsMove program which provides opportunities for youth to build their physical literacy.​</p><p>Ryan's personal background is in hockey, lacrosse and golf.
