Fortius Sport & Health is an integrated athlete development centre strengthened through philanthropy and focused on optimizing human performance for life.

 Our Team

Stefania Rizzo

Stefania Rizzo is the  Director of Physical Therapy at Fortius Sport & Health. An original member of the Physiotherapy team within the Fortius Institute, Stefania is a respected physical therapist with international sport experience, and experience as Head of Rehabilitation with an NHL franchise team. She attended both the Vancouver/Whistler Olympics and Sochi Olympics as lead therapist for the Canadian National Men's and Women's Alpine Ski Teams, and has over 15 years of experience working within some of the best physiotherapy clinics in British Columbia. Stefania has worked extensively with professional athletes in a variety of sports including NHL, AHL, NBA, CFL and WTA and community athletes of all levels.  As lead therapist for the men's and women's technical ski teams Stefania is experienced in the full spectrum of rehab from the moment an injury occurs to the return to high level competition.  Stefania uses assessment tools and sport specific movement strategies to help patients return to sport at all levels, and enjoys collaborating with the multidisciplinary team within Fortius to assist anyone wishing to improve their mobility and function.

Stefania was the Co-Chair BC Section Orthopaedic Division from 2002-2011 and continues to serve as a Mentor/Advisor for Advanced Manual Therapy exam candidates. Stefania completed her Fellowship of Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapy in 2006, Intramuscular Stimulation in 2008, and recently completed her post-professional DPT program.

Stefania grew up playing soccer competitively and hopes to make it back to the field one day as a player rather than a therapist.  When she's not in the clinic or working in the sports arena she can be found cycling, running or hiking around the lower mainland, skiing in the winter, or kiteboarding somewhere tropical.
