Fortius Sport & Health is an integrated athlete development centre strengthened through philanthropy and focused on optimizing human performance for life.
Our experienced and specialized sport and orthopaedic physiotherapists are uniquely trained to help you regain motion, reduce pain and achieve specific performance, health and fitness goals. We use a variety of techniques including exercise, manual therapy, IMS and acupuncture. We can help you increase your functional ability, expand your movement potential and improve your quality of life.
During your initial visit, our sport physiotherapists spend 40 minutes of dedicated time reviewing your medical history, and assessing your injury. They explain what is going on and why so that, together, there is a clear understanding of the game plan to ensure you reach your desired goals.
Subsequent visits include the most appropriate and effective treatment options for you, including possible referrals to other practitioners within our integrated, interdisciplinary health care team. An integration advocate will help coordinate your appointments with different practitioners, a service that is unique to Fortius. This approach helps ensure you effectively and efficiently optimize your recovery and reach your goals. Our therapy team will guide you through the continuum of recovery from your injury.
You can book an appointment directly with one of our physiotherapists or you may be referred by your physician. Most extended health plans provide coverage for physiotherapy. Check with your provider for more details on the benefits available to you. We do not directly bill third parties; however, we will provide you with a receipt that can be submitted to your health plan for reimbursement.
Initial appointment and assessment - $140. Subsequent one-on-one visits: 30 mins - $105, 40 mins - $140, 60 mins - $210.
Post surgical & high volume treatment schedules may have preferred rates - will be discussed with your therapist on the first visit.
Individualized rehabilitation programs are tailored to your sport or occupation and our focus is on improving strength, balance, coordination, proprioception, endurance and flexibility. Continuing your prescribed exercises is an important component of injury prevention.
Joint and spinal mobilization and manipulation using hands-on techniques to relieve pain and to restore proper movement and function.
We use our hydrotherapy centre – hot and cold plunge pools, underwater treadmill – for many conditions, including acute and post-operative conditions. Treadmill sessions allow for earlier post-injury or post-surgery ambulation and provides a safe and effective rehabilitation and fitness environment - so you can get back on the playing field sooner or increase your day-to-day mobility.
Our certified practitioners have extensive experience in needling techniques that penetrate deep within muscle tissues to help reduce adverse tone in tight muscles or trigger points that may be contributing to pain and dysfunction.
Our certified practitioners have extensive experience targeting specific points along meridian pathways defined by the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture. Needles, lasers and/or TENS are used to stimulate areas which influence pain and tissue healing in the body.
Our therapists use scientific evidence to support our choice and use of various electrotherapy devices, which could include Ultrasound, High Voltage Pulsed Current, Laser, Interferential (IFC)
All of our rehabilitation programs are based on an initial comprehensive assessment, however, we can also conduct this assessment on individuals who are not injured but who are interested in preventing injuries and improving performance. In this type of assessment, our focus is to identify and correct commonly overlooked imbalances and limitations and provide a program to correct them.
Clinical Pilates is directed by one of our registered physiotherapists, who combines the principles of Pilates movement education with a sound knowledge of anatomy, rehabilitation, and injury prevention. Clinical Pilates is known for its focus on core strength, spinal stability, flexibility, and balance. Using specialized equipment, Clinical Pilates provides the perfect support for injury rehabilitation, especially of chronic injuries. A great adjunct to regular training, Clinical Pilates can help the athlete to integrate body control and awareness to improve their resilience to injury and to improve their performance. Many sporting teams worldwide utilize Pilates as part of their training regimes.
