Beedie presents game-changing donation for KidsMove Schools programApril 9, 2019 | by Fortius Sport & Health
The Fortius Foundation is excited to announce a game-changing donation of $27,000 from Beedie toward the expansion of the Burnaby KidsMove Schools program.
In 2017, Fortius Sport & Health and the Burnaby School District partnered to launch the 10-week program that helps youth ages 9 – 12 develop the skills, competency and confidence they need to be active in sport, for life.
This school year, KidsMove brought approximately 450 Burnaby students and their teachers to Fortius, from nine elementary schools. By June 2019, they will have delivered 90 two-hour sessions.
This donation from Beedie Cares allows Fortius to expand this program, for the first time, by bringing more support to Douglas Road Elementary. Through a series of in-school teacher training sessions and the installation of a sports equipment box, Douglas Road teachers will have the resources to integrate KidsMove principles into every physical education session.
Fortius would like to thank Beedie Cares for this generous donation. To learn more about KidsMove or how to make a donation, visit our website at www.fortiussport.com/kidsmove
MORE ABOUT KIDSMOVE
KidsMove was developed in June of 2016 by the REACH collaboration, comprised of Fortius Sport & Health, the Steve Nash Foundation, Pro Motion Research Institute (a sport science charity) and Integrated Athlete Development (IAD), a group of world-class sport science practitioners that includes Rick Celebrini, Ben Sporer, Anthony Findlay, David Cox, and Steve Nash.
Delivered by strength and conditioning coaches at Fortius, the sessions involve a variety of sport and movement-based activities designed to foster the physical, mental, and lifestyle fundamentals of athlete development.
