Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society supports KidsMoveOctober 25, 2019 | by Fortius Sport & Health
Fortius Sport & Health and the Burnaby School District are proud to kick off the 4th year of KidsMove schools with a special donation from the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society.
On October 15, President Jeff Clark of the Burnaby Firefighters Association – Local 323 dropped off a cheque for $5,000 toward the KidsMove Schools youth activity and learning program.
“We are so grateful to have the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society support KidsMove again this year. Fortius works every day to be a community asset, ensuring that everyone in Burnaby can benefit from this unique place. That starts with our kids, and the support of the Firefighters, and all our Burnaby donors, makes KidsMove a reality,” Fortius Foundation Executive Director Andy Price said.
Starting this October, approximately 450 students and 18 teachers across nine Burnaby elementary schools will have the opportunity to participate in the KidsMove 2019/20 school year. These schools include: Armstrong, Lochdale, Windsor, 12th Avenue, Westridge, Montecito, Douglas Road, Lyndhurst and Inman.
KidsMove Schools is a 10-week program developed by Fortius Sport & Health to help children aged nine to 12 years develop physical skills, competency and confidence. The program is inclusive of children of all abilities, including students with physical or cognitive disabilities.
The program is provided at no cost to the schools or students, through the generous support of donors like the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society, Beedie Cares and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Foundation.
