Jumpstart Relief Fund supports return of youth programmingOctober 30, 2020 | by Fortius Sport & Health
The Fortius Foundation is honoured to be among 668 sport and recreation organizations selected nationally for grant funding through the new Jumpstart Sport Relief fund.
Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities announced the new $8 million fund in September to help sport and recreation organizations deliver programming this year, and beyond. The funding provides invaluable support in a time when many organizations have had to shut their doors due to COVID-19, adjust to lost revenues and increase program costs to ensure the safety of all participants and staff.
“With Jumpstart’s support, we’ll be able to rebuild our youth programs, including KidsMove and BACK in the Game, with strong COVID-19 safety protocols in place. We’ll invest in equipment necessary to keep children, coaches and teachers safe, and start to recover from the financial strain of the last six months,” Foundation Director Andy Price said.
Along with Jumpstart, the Fortius Foundation understands the role sport plays in the health and well-being of kids and their families and are doing everything we can to help community activity continue. As we move through these challenging times, the principles KidsMove develops – physical literacy, healthy lifestyle, community connection and self-confidence – are especially important.
